Fabric innovation and experimental methods have been the DNA of Dominate for a long time. The brains behind the designs continue to push the boundaries through experimental cut-and-sewn.

In appreciation of Dominate’s unexpected custom collaboration with the Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XX Papua 2021, we experimented with special material called woven fabric ‘Melle Taba’ from Sorong, Papua that portrays the Cendrawasih bird whose globally known as the ‘bird of paradise’.

The bird is an icon and symbol of Papua because it flew and lives around the forest. Cendrawasih also represents peacefulness in the Papua Land through its gift - an exquisite sound and mesmerizing dance. As de facto, this woven fabric is still becoming the payment thing for the original tribes there and the values depend on how the motifs and materials are.

The result of this collaboration is a crewneck made from pre-shrunk cotton fleece 330 gsm with oil-based print, completes with the Dominate's primary tone - olive and black. We recommend you treat this material through 'dry-cleaning' methods.

PON will be held from 2-15 October in Papua, Kota Jayapura, District of Kota Jayapura, Merauke, and Mimika. A selection of the styles can be seen in the gallery above, while the crewneck is available to buy at official marketplace PON XX Papua 2021.
